I know for us the club is much more than swim, bike, run and fun. We had family health challenges with Reece born premature (never know it now), Tristin's near death pregnancy complications and my resent heart surgery bump in the road, however through it all club members have been an amazing support system for our family. When Team Blaze began in 2004 it was something we thought the Spokane community needed and through hard work & determination the club is truly the model of what triathlon clubs should be! We're fortunate to now have an awesome Team Blaze Board, established as non-profit to give back to local charities, volunteer at local races and positively impact the lives of others. Team Blaze Spokane Triathlon Club spirit is contagious because the members are of all ability level and age, yet unconditionally support each other through life and healthy activities! Here's what some of the members and athletes I coach say about the Team Blaze Spokane Triathlon Club.
You've inspired me to want more from life!
You make training fun and not so intimidating!
I appreciate all the support you show for athletes of all ability levels!
You have gift of patience with athletes of all ages and ability levels.
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with Team Blaze yesterday! The Valley Girl tri was my first event in the TB uniform (which I was intimidated to wear since I'm such a newbie and not speedy). BUT everyone was super cool and supportive. It was very touching! Seeing the Team Blaze signs and supporters actually chocked me up! If any other beginners are interested in joining TB I would highly encourage them. Send them my way and I'll give them a pep talk =)
We are still pretty new to Spokane and it's really nice to belong to a group. And thanks to Donna's advice this was my first open water swim that I didn't have a panic attack about the weeds! =)
Thank you for all you do! I'm so glad I found Team Blaze!
Team Blaze is an amazing group of people that truly care about each other.
Team Blaze provides just the right balance of training and fun!
Your coaching and belief in me got me through the IM CDA 2011!
The open water swim coaching before Valley Girl Tri was super helpful and gave me confidence to get through swim without panicing!
What does Team Blaze mean to you? What advice would you give someone thinking about joining?

I'd like to chime in and say that Team Blaze is an amazing group. When a co-worker pointed me to TB a year and a half ago, I was a little hestitant. There I was over fifty, overweight and way out of shape, did I really belong in a triathlon club? I decided to ignore the little voice of doubt and joined anyway. I'd always wanted to do a triathlon and it was past time to reclaim the physical activity part of my life that I'd let slide as my job became more demanding and book contracts were signed. Everyone in TB was incredibly friendly and so encouraging. When the OWS panic attacks hit, without the support and encouragement of TB, I would have quit the triathlon dream. The journey has been wonderful and the support yesterday when I finished ValleyGirl was just one incredible example of the spirit of this team.
Eighteen months later, I'm still over fifty :-), a little less overweight, and a lot more in shape. I finished a triathlon without OWS panic, and the best part of all: the friendships that have enriched my life. Team Blaze rocks!

There are lots of great things about Team Blaze but when people ask me about what I think is the best thing about being part of the team it's definitely how welcoming and inclusive it is. Everyone makes you feel like you belong, they share your triumphs and cheer you on whether you are coming first, last or somewhere in between. There is a wealth of knowledge that everyone is generous in sharing and no one seems to take themselves or their racing so seriously that they forget how to have fun. Its such an expansive group...there are so many different abilities, goals and ages...that everyone feels like they fit in. And I think that generousity of spirit is really apparent to anyone who has seen our group at Ironman or ValleyGirl or one of the other local events. When you join Team Blaze its like you have joined an extended family.

Wanted to share this message from a participant from Troika!! We have a great group!!
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how impressed I was with all the members of your team at Troika this weekend. I'm a member of Raise the Bar Multisport in Kent,Wa and we didn't have many members racing Troika this year. Your team made me feel like I was "amongst my own" with all the cheers, smiles, and friendly comments on the course. This is what I love about triathlon and your team epitomizes everything that is great about our sport. Thanks for making my race experience (and first half IM) so fun!

Best. Club. Ever!!!
I was more worried about Troika yesterday than I think I have been for any race I've ever done. Seeing all the Teamblazers out there, and feeling all the support that our club radiates, is really what got me through in good shape!
Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thanks so much for the amazing support on Sunday. I have been competing in triathlon for years but this is my first year with Teamblaze. Although it was not my best race day preformance, it certainly was one of the most enjoyable because of the support I encountered from before the race began til after it was over. You really are a wonderful group of people! So glad to be apart of you!
