With the shorter days and cooler temperatures, thoughts of heading indoors for training come to mind. Endless hours spent with bike trainers and dreadmills conjure less than excited thoughts.
I've bounced an idea off a few fellow TB'ers with positive results, so I wanted to take it a step further to receive responses from the rest of the group. I'm thinking of developing a Library of CD's, DVD's and books that members could share.
So, to start, I would like to know from folks -
1. What materials you would be interested in borrowing or using?
2. Do you have any materials you are willing to donate or loan to the library?
3. How long should the duration of the "borrowing" period? (DVD's could be different than books).
We are working on refining how the material distribution; hard copy "check-out" or possibly getting some of it on-line some how.
Thanks for any suggestions or thoughts and I'll keep you posted on further developments.

Awesome idea for a team library Angie. I have a lot of movies on DVD which I've found to be helpful to break the monotony of indoor rides. To answer your questions, I'll just go in order:
1. Materials interested in? - For riding, fast paced action works great. Some sports documentaries are pretty cool too. Really anything that isn't too cerebral or it's easy to slow down the workout! But we all have different preferences. Other materials? - There are lots of interesting books out there that can be great motivators. Even if they're not tri related. I prefer anything that isn't too much of a downer and that I can finish reading within a week or so.
2. Materials to donate or rent? - I can't promise if these are any good. I've picked them up over time, some I've looked at, trained to, read on a plane, etc. Others are just sitting waiting for someone to read: "Race Day" Robbie Ventura (DVD), "What It Takes: A Documentary About 4 World Class Triathletes' Quest for Greatness" (DVD), Open Water Swimming (BOOK), The Jack Daniels running formula (BOOK), Rocky (DVD), Bowerman and the Men of Oregon (BOOK), and a few others.
3. Rental period? - I think 5-10 days is good, it gives us time to use them for a bit, without the potential to lose track of them!
This could be a cool dialogue, if anyone has any ideas, please post to this string. Totally curious what other people train to and/or have to rent out.

I have a couple of Spinnervals DVDs that are great for guided and specific workouts. They've already made the rounds through several folks on the team, and I'm more than happy to continue to lend them out.
It's also time to start thinking about the group trainer rides where we all meet at somebody's house (mine is always offered) and workout to a DVD as a group.
Will post in another thread soon.

Mike, Nat, Heidi (and Donna via email) - thanks for the feedback! I will be contacting you to gather materials.
Others - if there are materials you would like to use, but do not have, please let me know. With enough requests, we might be able to secure those materials for the library. (Spinerval and Sufferfest DVDs, inspirational movies, Ironman videos, swimming instructional DVDs, books on nutrition, training, techniques etc)
Thanks!
